Designing the brand identity for SHEAFRIQ was a powerful opportunity to craft a visual language that uplifts Black womanhood, cultural pride, and creative empowerment. As a freelance Black female designer with Ghanaian heritage, I was deeply aligned with SHEAFRIQ’s mission to celebrate African roots and provide a platform for bold, expressive storytelling.
From the start, this project was rooted in collaboration, cultural research, and intuitive creativity. I worked closely with the founder to explore the essence of the brand—combining emotional resonance with strategic clarity. Together, we developed a look that felt fearless, unapologetic, and soulful.
The identity fuses bold afrocentric patterns, warm earthy and vibrant colour palettes, and striking typography that feels both contemporary and rooted in tradition. Every visual element was intentionally chosen to reflect the richness of African heritage, the power of sisterhood, and the vibrancy of Black creativity.
Using tools such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign, I built a brand system that is visually arresting and deeply symbolic—from logo marks and colour schemes to brand textures and digital templates. The result is a cohesive visual identity that commands attention, sparks connection, and celebrates the strength, style, and spirit of SHEAFRIQ’s community.
This project reaffirmed the importance of design as a tool for cultural storytelling, and the beauty that emerges when we lead with authenticity, heritage, and joy.
